Water Bottles in class ?

The children have all been given water bottles in each class this term. Many schools are encouraging children to drink water regularly and to have open access to water. The PTA has financially supported this scheme. The theory is that drinking water regularly has a positive impact on children’s learning. The bottles will be washed once a week and are not to be taken home. They will be used for water only and not juice.

It seems ironic that at a time when millions of people lack basic access to water that we are able to almost take this commodity for granted all the time.

We are taking part in the government School Fruit and Vegetable Scheme. This entitles all children between four and six to a free piece of fruit or vegetable each school day.

The future of our school

The school is no longer in Serious Weaknesses and therefore will be treated the same as any other school.

The curriculum will get more interesting i.e art, music and sport for both children and staff, but not at the expense of academic standards which are rising

We want to build on the success of the Nursery and involve parents far more across the whole school.

Children will have greater opportunity to get involved in the management and development of the school.

Teaching will continue to improve- we want the standards in year 6 and the Nursery to go right across the school.

We will continue to improve leadership and management, building upon the strength recognised by Ofsted.

The building still needs to be improved and we will continue to argue with the LEA that money has to be spent on creating a much better learning environment for all.

The school will continue to try and recruit the best possible staff regardless of role- we want the best of everything for our school.

The children will develop greater awareness about themselves and their local community in a wider, more challenging context.

Our school will continue to get better and better !

Children in our foundation stage learn many things through role play." It encourages individual and cooperative play and gives children the chance to express feelings, to use language, to develop literacy and numeracy skills and to learn without failure. Role play gives children the opportunity to make sense of their world. "(DFEE Early Years) The image below shows two children enjoying a spring wedding and seems to sum up the enjoyment they get from this learning experience.
